The Rural Virginia Provider Recruitment (RVPR) program was created in July 2013 by the Southwest Virginia Area Health Education Center (SWAHEC).
The mission of SWAHEC is to provide education, information, training, and services to improve health outcomes in Southwest Virginia. SWAHEC primarily focuses on rural health care workforce development to meet the needs of communities and health care professionals.
RVPR is a recruitment program that helps communities recruit and retain dedicated and qualified healthcare providers who are committed to practicing in medically underserved areas. RVPR is designed to primarily serve nonprofit community health centers, free clinics, county health departments, public hospitals and any other providers who share the common mission of providing services to everyone who comes through their door, regardless of ability to pay.
